Chicagoans flooded State Street on Saturday, September 8th for Open Streets Chicago, a free event intended to let attendees experience the Loop without the presence of traffic. The event, sponsored by the Chicago Loop Alliance and the Active Transportation Alliance included a myriad of activities such as chalk drawing, rock climbing, fencing and a mobile skatepark.
“This is our second year, and we’re just trying to promote bringing people to the Loop and enjoying State Street in a different way,” said Emma Zimmerman, a spokesperson for the Chicago Loop Alliance.
“I really love just to see everybody out. It’s kinda nice to see people who live in Chicago on State Street,” Deleo said.
